There is a vending machine at a location I frequent that has my favorite, but very rare, drink. It costs 140 yen and a few times I’ve put in 150 and it wouldn’t sell me the drink, it would just buzz at me. A small 10 near the paper money slot was lit up which I assumed that it was low or out of 10 yen and couldn’t give change. I often have plenty of 10 yen coins but on the two occasions this happened I didn’t have exact change.
Is there any way to say ‘I don’t mind paying 150 just give me my drink’ or is it a ‘well I can’t sell you it since I can’t give you change’ situation?
