So I took a day trip to Hakone from Tokyo and got very lucky as the snowfall had fallen in the evening and night hours the day before I arrived. I was blissfully unaware that Fujisan didn't have snowfall all year round. Apparently it's also only clear enough to see 80 days of the year. Again very lucky!
