Residents who relocated to Kumamoto, is it safer from natural hazards?

URGENT!!
Hi People,
I am getting a job offer that needs me to relocate to Kumamoto from Tokyo. I am aware that it would be countryside, I appreciate nature quite a lot. I think it's worth the risk to enjoy life there. Even the compensation offered is a good increment. I made up my mind, even contacted the company that I want to accept the offer. Haven't signed any documents yet though.
But then it popped up to me to check natural disaster and hazards prone-ness. I got scared for my life after reading about it. That, it gets floods regularly, sometimes typhoons , being a bit coastal. There's fault lines and mountains in Kumamoto, which when they would vibrate, would bring an earthquake of at least 6. Tsunami hazard is medium level.

Residents of Kumamoto /Kyushu, please share your experiences. What do I say to family back home, that I'm relocating to a quite beautiful but disaster prone area.
I'm a bit scared, help me!!
