I'm thinking about working at a car factory as a temp hire (called 期間工 in Japanese). What's it like working at one? I know it's supposed to be tough on your body, but it seems like it can have its advantages as well.
Pros: Pays decently. About 5 million yen annually, with incentives included. They also offer free housing and utilities. Not hard to get hired. Pay/Incentives go up the longer you work. Some overtime, but not too much. Potentially learn some useful skills like welding/using tools?
Cons: Very hard on your body, or so I'm told. Free housing might be low quality/requires roommates. Potentially abusive work environment w/toxic bosses? Not sure if that's also applicable to major companies like Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Denso, etc.
I've never really worked a blue collar job before. Closest thing is stocking shelves or warehouse work. Im not sure what to expect in terms of how hard it is physically. I do work out at the gym so I don't think I'm too weak to do the job. Do you have any advice before I start applying, and how to do well in it to keep the job? Or can you help me learn more about what to expect from it? Tips and tricks? Thanks
