It’s Halloween today, but instead of the festive mood, Tokyo gave us all rain. The streets are wet, quiet..
When my wife picked up son from youchien today, I noticed he was only wearing his tight thermal pants . I asked what happened, and he said he lost his uniform pants after PE class. Apparently, the teacher just let him go home like that.
It’s not a huge deal, but seeing him like that made me feel a bit sad and confused. Maybe it’s just one of those small parenting moments where you wonder, “Should I say something to the school? Or just let it go?”
Being a parent in Japan can feel strange sometimes — things are so organized and safe, but also a bit distant emotionally. I sometimes feel I don’t quite know what’s “normal” here anymore.
How do other parents in Japan feel about these things? Would you bring it up to the teacher, or just shrug it off as part of growing up?
