Not sure what “Roman letters” means here. Does it imply English alphabet or Japanese words written in alphabet.
Install some cameras and water jets that can be aimed by remote control.
If the issue persists, replace the water with cat piss.
These are common problems that comes with Overtourism, stop turning it into a foreigner issue. How do you know that the perpetrators are all foreigners and not Japanese? It is a common issue of tourism, and has nothing to do with foreign or Japanese. Just add Singapore-style brutal fines for such things and the issue will be solved. Don’t make it into “foreigners are evil” propaganda.
Has anyone any proof these markings were not there during corona, or is it now all the foreigners at fault because of tourism?
Just because there are roman characters, does not necessarily mean only foreigners, there is also Japanese.
Those markings have been there as long as I’ve been in Japan. There’s even plenty on the bamboo near Fushimi-inari, and some on the Torii themselves.
They should close it for a season.
Better they deface that one than one in a natural area, away from the tourist glut. Let them have it. There are plenty of “bamboo forests” to enjoy peacefully in this country.
I’ve seen this.. in 2016.
So it’s not just tourists, but that won’t generate the clicks
Why not hire a Koushien base ball kid to throw them color balls from the combini at these Somali wannabes
Tourists gotta stop this shit man.
