I saw something today I'd never seen before in my 15 years here and just had to make a post.
This morning I took my kid to daycare. It's on the 2nd floor of a residential-type building but the tenants are the daycare my kid goes to, some kind of juku, and some other businesses. To actually enter the building, you need to punch in the room number, press the call button, then someone opens the door from the inside.
So my kid and I enter the building and this young woman enters after us while the door is open. My kid and I got onto the elevator first and hit '2', then the young woman gets in the elevator. This is the part that had me confused. She pressed the elevator door open button while simultaneously pressing '4', then released those and then pressed both the elevator door open and door close button at the same time, then it looked like she pressed '3' then '4', but only '4' lit up. I could be misremembering the exact combination but it was something like that. What the hell did I see?
I looked online and I found a TIL about how some elevators let you skip floors if you press the door close button at the same time that you press the button for your floor…but she'd have no need to skip the 3rd floor because no one else was in the elevator.
Anyway I just felt the need to make a thread since this was so unusual to me. Has anyone seen this before?
