I am prescribed Concerta (Ritalin) in Osaka, and today at the clinic I was asked what pharmacy I go to and for the first time I was warned that I should ring my pharmacy before going to confirm they have stock. My pharmacy had my dose (36mg, but they implied the other doses were out) so there was no issue for me and I was wondering if it was only a temporary thing, but I asked directly if I should keep ringing to confirm and they said yes because right now it is very unreliable for the pharmacy to be able to get stock for Concerta.
The dreaded shortage I often see about in other countries has finally caught up to Japan I guess. My doctor was weird about me having a few weeks backup despite me being another clinic’s refugee (so he should understand my desire to horde out of safety) so I decided to just keep my backup to myself and this further reinforces that the doctor is stupid to be policing my backup.
