TL;DR Ito city council election following dissolution of the assembly by Takubo, the now famous mayor who lied about graduating from university are taking place today. Vote counting will begin at 9:10 pm at the Ito Elementary School gymnasium. Thirty candidates (18 incumbents and 12 newcomers) ran for the 20 seats.

The second no-confidence motion requires the attendance of more than two-thirds of all lawmakers and the approval of a majority of those present. The candidates by party affiliation are three from Komeito, one from the Japan Innovation Party, one from the Communist Party, one from the Reiwa Party, and 24 independents.
