Couldn’t believe it was here too. Hate it in the US, but didn’t think I would see it here (yet), but went to the ramen chain Kamurura in Nakano Broadway, used their vending machine outside to order, and the bloody thing asked me if I wanted to tip!
Gave 4 options, ¥100,¥200 etc and to just pay. Of course I didn’t tip.
I realized afterwards that I had ordered using the English language version, and now I’m curious if the Japanese language version asks for a tip too.
Not going in that direction anytime soon, anyone know if that was an English only option (trying to milk tourists a bit), or are they trying to introduce this to Japanese life too
