Eight Staff Members Resign Simultaneously at Sapporo Kindergarten — Allegations of Verbal Abuse by Principal, Parents Informed Only a Day Before
At a private kindergarten in Sapporo City, eight staff members—teachers and administrative personnel—have resigned all at once, sparking confusion among parents who only learned of the mass resignation the day before it took effect.
Parents are now scrambling to figure out where to send their children and how the school will continue operations.

“I sincerely apologize for causing concern to many people due to my poor management oversight. None of the resignation letters included detailed reasons,” said the principal.

“We just want to know what the childcare system will look like after November 4.”

“How many staff have quit, and how many new hires have been made?”

The meeting was held at Sapporo Baika Kindergarten, located in Minami Ward, Sapporo City.
The issue at hand: a mass resignation of staff members.
According to parents and other sources, seven teachers and one office employee resigned simultaneously as of October 31.
The cause, parents say, was the principal’s verbal abuse, though the principal told reporters, “I never made such remarks. I cannot accept these claims.”
Parents are the ones bearing the consequences.
One attendee of the explanatory meeting stated:
“Even when we asked how this situation happened, the answer was just, ‘I don’t know,’ or ‘It just ended up like this.’ As a parent, I just want to know whether it’s still safe to keep sending my child here.”

Parents were only notified of the resignations the day before they took effect, receiving a letter through their children.
One parent with a child in the senior class voiced deep concern:
“We’re considering transferring our child. It’s too worrying to leave things as they are. Finding a new kindergarten takes a lot of effort, and the child will also feel anxious having to start over again. We really need some support.”

The kindergarten administration says it plans to hire new staff and continue operations, but since no clear information has been provided about the number of new hires or timing, parents remain upset, and the situation continues to cause ripples throughout the community.

Stupid principal and owners. Childcare workers are *near impossible* to find in some places. 8 people quitting at the same time indicates a problem with management/ownership – especially in Japan.
People are very hesitant to resign in Japan usually. It must have been hell on earth to push these teachers to collectively leave.
Yikes. Considering how hard it can be to find a place at all, if the parents both work and don’t have family that can take care of the kids they’re faced with potential income losses.
Seems like the best course of action for everyone involved is to get rid of the principal. Then the children can remain with their friends and teachers.
English teachers, take note and take action.
Sounds like they had enough and unionized. The principal is 100% at fault, I guarantee it.
Being so terrible your entire staff quits at the same time is crazy work
Hope the principal or whoever’s in charge and making things difficult is booted so the kiddos and staff can work in a safe and welcoming environment
Fuck I almost bought a house just down the street from here and being that close to a yochien was one of the reasons I really wanted it. Glad we ended up elsewhere.
This is like the plot in the movie Monsters, but opposite.
My daughter used to work for a daycare in the Nagoya area. Pay was terrible, and they were really into making people feel guilty about doing off. ‘Think about what you’re doing to your coworkers if you take off’ was the thing she always got. And then more of that when she resigned. Like, that’s on you. If someone taking off is that much of a problem, you need more workers.
If the principal claims that he will hire new teachers and continue how will the new teachers trust the guy. He sounds like he must be a sociopath with shit deflector type responses like “I don’t know” or “it just ended up like this!”
He missed his true calling and should be in politics.
I think this was the gist of a Kimura Takuya drama.
Wtf must have happened for 8 staff to resign seriously this needs a major investigation
The Revolution has started!
