I was walking through Nippori on the way back from Tokyo Station today, and just outside the cemetery next to the station, there was a police station with this billboard that just had a bunch of people's headshots, with money listed below their faces (６００万￥ and such). I couldn't really read the rest of the billboard, but I was immediately curious.
I can't imagine these are, like… bounties? Like bounty hunting bounties? I can't imagine the Japanese police are offering money for civilian arrests, are they?? 💀 But equally I can't imagine it's just a reward for providing tips, or the highest bail money required for the people listed.
I didn't managed to snag a photo unfortunately, I wish I could be more specific about what I'm talking about, but yeah it was a very unique thing I've never seen before, so if anyone knows what it was/might be, that'd be great !
