Hello ! I recently went to a station to refund my old commuter’s pass (used for 1 month, would have lasted 5 months in total if I did not refund it). The discussion with the station staff was pretty tedious, we could not really understand each other well (My japanese is wip lol) and she eventually took my credit card to refund it and gave me a blank pasmo commuter card instead of the one I had prior to this.
However, this happen like 4 days ago, and I still don’t have any money refunded on my credit card, is it normal? Or maybe the money is put on that weird blank commuter pass ? I don’t really know but I really need that money to buy a new pass (I changed homes) so if anyone of you has a clue I would be really glad !!

For commuting passes, they won‘t automatically divide the amount paid by the months of usage. It‘s calculated daily. They use the basic return fare(NOT discounted one), multiply it by the days used and add a processing fee. They will subtract the sum from the original price you paid.
source: had to return mine during covid lockdown, used one mont out of 3.
will probably be returned to you wothin 2-4 weeks
Refunds to cards always take long, no matter the business or the country.
The last time I got one refunded it was in cash. Years ago though
