Life insurance options for US taxpayer?

Hi there!

I'm not sure if this question was asked before (or if it's even really a good idea), but my Japanese husband and I were doing some life planning and looked into doing life insurance.

My (probably very basic) understanding is that although term life insurance isn't the best for retirement savings, it is one way to save. That, and I'll be able to leave behind money for any family members I leave behind if something happens.

The financial planner we're working with said that only Hanasaku Seimei or Zurich Seimei will take US citizens, but according to him they're relatively new and I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that.

Do any other US citizens have experience with these companies? Or does anyone have any words of wisdom or advice in regards to life insurances?

Any advice is appreciated, and thank you in advance :')
