The overreaction of Japanese media and public to the slightest, most minor infractions of their celebrities never ceases to amaze me.
Oh my god! A 19 year old being….19 years old?
Too bad she wasn’t in politics. Apologies in honorific Japanese and an extremely deep bow and it’d blow over in a couple of weeks.
The problem is I think other agency’s not gonna take her after this happened. Her career is basically over unless some kind of miracle happens.
This is unbelievable. They are adults from 18, she can get married, buy a house or act in a porn movie, all legal. But she can not have a glass of wine???
I did a year at a Japanese university in the 2010s and ALL the freshmen drank. Heck, you had to given that your university clubs were having giant nomikai events a few times a semester where peer pressure to drink was high. Never got carded at the convenience store either – sometimes the clerks even helped out by pressing the “over 20” button on the screen for us.
I’m surprised Japanese people are reacting so strongly to this.
Follow the rules, I know people that drink before 20 too, I personally don’t, control yourself

Power harassment, sexual assault, and the sexualization of children are all AOK. But a 19yo drinking wine in the alcoholic nation?! Nooooo!

I think it was the affair not the alcohol, they just used the alcohol to soften the blow. They probably didn’t even care about the drinking.

Japanese celebrity culture is so fucking weird to me. They get so fucking fussy when celebrities do so much worse shit everywhere else and no one cares. Korea and I’m gonna assume China are the same I’ve seen some K-pop dramas.
But this is the society that thinks weed is as bad as fentanyl so I guess they just don’t like people having fun in ways that 40+ salary men don’t
It’s as lame as when sumo ran Takagenji out for using weed for pain management. The patriarchal conservative attitude about drugs is one of my least liked things about the culture.
