On the 10th, Komeito decided to withdraw from the coalition government framework with the Liberal Democratic Party. During coalition negotiations following the election of Sanae Takaichi as party president, the party called for stricter regulations on corporate and organizational donations and for the truth behind the factional slush fund scandal to be revealed, but the gap remained unbridged, and the party decided that efforts to dispel distrust in the LDP were insufficient. The decision will be made on whether to cooperate on a policy-by-policy basis. Komeito joined the coalition government of the LDP and the Liberal Party in October 1999, bringing an end to a quarter-century of coalition history.
If Komeito were to immediately withdraw from the coalition, the LDP would fall into a one-party cabinet. This would be a blow to Takaichi's new administration. Further instability in the political situation would be inevitable. The convening of the extraordinary Diet session to select Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru's successor is also likely to be delayed until after the 20th, prolonging the political vacuum.
On the 10th, Representative Tetsuo Saito met with LDP President Takaichi and conveyed the party's policy.
On the 7th, Saito met with Takaichi and shared his concerns about historical awareness, including visits to Yasukuni Shrine, and policies toward foreigners. The two sides were unable to reach a conclusion on clarifying the slush fund scandal and restricting the scope of corporate and organizational donations, so the coalition agreement was postponed.
On the 8th, Saito stated that he would not vote for Takaichi in the prime ministerial nomination election if a coalition agreement could not be reached.
My opinion: Finally!! We can see LDP crashing in the future, if not soon.
