I’ve been living in Japan for a few years now and I’m surprised that I haven’t found a single skateboard magazine since moving here, despite browsing bookstores relatively regularly.
Ten years ago I remember buying a few different publications, maybe VHS (?) magazine and Thrasher (I believe there was a Japan version?), but nowadays I can’t seem to find anything, which is surprising given the popularity of skateboarding these days.
I do live in a rural area and prefecture so there might be something to that (along with the general trend away from paper), there isn’t any “core” skateshop around where I could find this stuff. Are there any skateboarding enthusiasts in this sub and, if so, are you aware of any mags worth checking out there?
