  1. Huh… I can’t say I know of any stores that have those kinds of pants. I’ve only really seen construction workers with them.

  2. I think you might do better asking in a Japan travel sub. Tourists are more apt to search things like this out.

  3. Workman. But as the name suggests, these are work clothes, not “casual”. You’ll look like you’re off to build a prefabricated home. Without paint stains, you’ll look like you’re workshy too. You’ll also need to drive a white kei-truck.

  4. Designer Tobi pants would probably be stuff from Yohji Yamamoto but they tend to distort the clean look, probably easier to find in Osaka than Kyoto. If you are going for casual, you can try Toraichi. I have a pair of pants from them and they look very similar, but this is are real construction worker clothes. The brand is not a fashion brand but a blue collar work brand. It’s like wearing Carhartt/Dickies before they turned into fashion brand.

  5. ah, classic case study on upper middle class making working class clothes “trendy” and “fashionable”. I would say: you don’t work construction – you don’t wear tobi pants.
