We are coming to Okinawa for four nights in January. We are from the United States and will be obtaining IDP’s so we can rent a car in Okinawa. I noticed rental car prices are on the higher side and where our personal insurance back home will not extend to the rental car in Japan, we will also have to get insurance on top of this, making a rental car very expensive. However, there is an Airbnb listing that includes a free rental car. At first I thought it was a scam because the price of the Airbnb for the four days we will be there is the same cost of what a rental car would be. But after looking at reviews, it’s legit. Seems like a no brainer for us to get this Airbnb where it includes the rental car and therefore we’d be saving hundreds of dollars. However, how would this work with insurance? I didn’t see anything else on Airbnb offering a free rental car so I don’t think it’s a common practice but I’m curious if anyone has done this before.
