Hello everyone!
We’re a family of four, traveling with two kids under 12. This will be our fourth visit to Japan and our second time in Tokyo. We'll be spending the first few days in Tokyo, and we're excited to explore nearby prefectures during the first week of December using the JR East Nagano Niigata Pass.
We’d love to hear your thoughts, suggestions, or any tips you might have for our itinerary!
Tentative Itinerary:
- Day 1 – Niigata: Yuzawa Kogen Panorama Park, Kiyotsu Gorge, Pier Bandai
- Day 2 – Nagano: Matsumoto Castle, Narai-Juku
- Day 3 – Nagano: Snow Monkey Park, Zenko-ji Temple
- Day 4 – Gunma: Kusatsu Onsen (overnight stay)
- Day 5 – Gunma: Shima Onsen, then back to Tokyo
Days 1 to 3 may be day trips from Tokyo, depending on whether we can still find affordable accommodations in Nagano or Niigata. We're open to skipping the Snow Monkey Park if there are other worthwhile alternatives. We’ve been hoping to visit Kamikochi, but unfortunately, it’s closed during this season.
Looking forward to your recommendations, especially for family-friendly spots, scenic areas, or hidden gems we might have missed!
