In the process of setting up Wise account and in addition to photos of my Japanese driver's license they are asking for a copy of juminhyo with MyNumber visible. Mrs oldhippie is freaking out saying that giving away this number is dangerous and that it should not be required. She worries about the trustworthiness of Wise and what happens if there is a data breach etc. While she does often overreact to stuff, I never dismiss her opinions without double checking (happy wife, happy life) so have decided to seek guidance from the japanfinance hive mind.
Is it normal for Wise to ask for MyNumber card? Is there anything I need to be concerned about, or is this all par for the course?
