On Oct. 5, Kamiya Sobei, leader of Sanseito, ruled out joining a coalition government with LDP and Komeito. In a street speech in Hiroshima, he said, "We will not form a coalition with them now. We are a party that was formed because the LDP is no good." He also indicated his intention to ask his party members to vote for him in the prime minister election.
He declared that unless the LDP cooperates with the party's policies, like tax cuts and energy policies, he would never give in even if they offer him a cabinet post. While acknowledging that he shares similar policies with LDP President Sanae Takaichi, he emphasized that he would oppose any policy that is not in the national interest. He cited a consumption tax cut as the policy he would prioritize if Takaichi were to become prime minister.
