Honda Collection Hall Route

Hello!

My husband and I just finished our visit at the Honda Collection Hall in Motegi and it was AMAZING! But quite a journey to get here. The last post on this topic is a year old, so I wanted to outline what we did to hopefully help others.

The total trip was around 2 and a half hours, but many of the trains/busses on this route only run every 30/45 minutes so make sure to set your google maps to your future departure time to get accurate train/bus times.

We started in Tokyo and took the Shinkansen to Utsunomiya, we left early to avoid traffic.

At Utsunomiya station we went to platform 14 for the 91 bus to the Nanaishimocho stop in Nanaichuo (almost an hour bus ride)

We walked to the Nanai station and boarded the Moka Tetsudo to Motegi. You will need to go down the stairs and cross the tracks to get to the correct train entry point. * NOTE your suica card will not work on this train, think Spirited Away remote train. You take a small ticket when you board and pay cash upon exiting the train. Our tickets were 480yen each. *

Google maps got us this far, hopefully it will do the same for you! Now you are 5.5km from the collection hall…

There are no s.ride or GO taxi's in Motegi, so we were panicking and ready to walk. HOWEVER in a last ditch effort, we walked to Kashiwa Taxi's. It is about a 15 minute walk from Motegi station and is on google maps. When we arrived, there happened to be a taxi ready with a very kind man who drove us straight to the collection hall. Before we got out of the taxi we asked him to come back and pick us up 2 hours later, and he was right on time. The ride there was 2400yen and the ride back was 3100yen since he dropped us off at the station

Here is the phone number to book in advance: (0285)63-0015. We had trouble calling with our phone networks, if you are staying in a hotel the front desk can likely help you call. That is the best way to guarantee you get a taxi and their preferred booking method.

Enjoy the Honda Collection Hall! It was so much fun, and worth the 5 hour round trip.

  1. Thanks for the detail. On my first trip to Japan in 2013, I actually had tickets for the Super GT race, but ended up not going due to how complicated the journey was. Big regrets as it was near the end of the proper Super GT era. I’m glad you made it!
