Hey there!
Im a german architecture uni student looking into spending a year abroad in Japan. Theres a couple of unis my uni offers direct exchange with: sophia, tohoku, tokyo tech, kyoto, osaka.
I care a lot about having a good campus and be well integrated with other japanese and international students. On campus living is really valuable to me. I also want a city that isnt all that overwhelming which is why, for now, Ive safely eliminated tokyo and osaka from the list. The only two schools that im considering are therefore tohoku and kyoto.
Now Im a little stuck.. of course I have no clue what program I would get into but I'd love some advice on which of those I should prioritize. It seems tohoku has a really solid offer for international student and from what ive seen, international students and japanese ones live together in the same dorms which I really like. It seems Kyoto separates these two groups and in general there are mostly just international students and researchers living on campus.
However, it also appears that Kyoto is a lot more recognized globally. If it actually turns out to be a very inspiring academic environment it miiight be worth considering. Then again, as an exchange student i would think that aspect wouldnt matter much as you have different classes etc. Not too sure about this.
Thats why I'm asking you!! What do you think?!
Thanks in advance for all your replies.
