China on Friday urged its citizens to avoid traveling to Japan as comments by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi about Japan’s possible role in a Taiwan conflict deepen a diplomatic dispute.

The Foreign Ministry said “the atmosphere surrounding people-to-people exchanges has severely deteriorated, posing serious risks to the safety of Chinese citizens.”

What the… hell does that even mean? Am I just unable to comprehend because it’s 2:20am JST right now? I’ve read this sentence like 8 times and I don’t know what I’m looking at.

  3. So this what Fortune Telling Mama-san from my local izakaya foretold. She was pretty spot on.

  4. Shouldn’t it be the other way around? Japanese are in danger in China with all the stabbings and hate parades. China is the king of irony. Bans US tech from operating from its country but uses free speech and the judicial system to fight the ban of their tech in America. Points to uncompetitiveness for US EV cars because the prices are high while their cars are fully subsidized by the government so they can sell for 1/4 of the price undercutting literally everybody. How their tech is superior and that they won the AI race but can’t produce the very chip that powers said AI. Just all so tiresome of the exaggeration and propaganda and most importantly the lies. Yes China will overtake the US I get it. It’s been said every single year since 1960. Can’t hold a candle to Japan’s culture and quality so they either bash it or ban it. It’s a ridiculous country with ridiculous narratives within the population

  5. Takaichi’s base doesn’t like over tourism especially by people who don’t respect Japan so I’m pretty sure they actually just handed a win to her

  6. Authoritarian regimes always enjoy making public announcements that they are treated unfairly.

  7. I just got back from Japan last night after 2 weeks. No problems here. China needs to get over itself.

  8. THANK YOU YES! So many fucking Chinese tourists shitting the bed there in recent years that I actually have to speak in English just so people don’t associate me with them.

  9. Just got back from 2 weeks in Japan and the only bad thing they had to say about the Chinese is that they talk too loud lol

  10. I guess they had to do something more reasonably bitchy now that everybody’s so sensitive you can’t even threaten to behead heads of state anymore…

  11. I have to say chinese tourists can sometimes be very disrespectful. One instance is We were lining up for food and this chinese dude was smoking in the line, i had to call him out because im pregnant. He could’ve easily went into the alleyway to smoke

  12. They cut in front of me waiting for public bus. I learned to wait farther back where it meets better to the door and now I cut in front of them. Hahhah

  13. It’s pretty well known, widely, how Chinese tourists act in general. And it’s nothing to brag about.

  14. I don’t like to persecute groups of people, but the only tourist that I have ever found obnoxious were the Chinese bus tourist at Kinkanku-ji who kept blocking my view with their tripods and shoving people.
Can’t say I’ll complain if there are less Chinese tourist.

  15. Less Chinese tourists? Don’t threaten me with a good time.

Made the mistake of going to Donki to buy a face wash refill Halloween week and got my basket elbowed into my ribs by a Chinese woman waving her arms around yelling at her husband. Winded me so bad and came up in a bruise by the end of the day.

  16. I remember traveling to Japan before covid lockdowns in China were lifted, it was amazing. No lines and everyone was happy

  17. F China. Not welcome especially those a-hole Chinese tourists who harass deers in Nara Park, vandalize with graffiti for their political motive in the ancient tourist areas.

  18. Wild, it’s more dangerous to be Japanese in China.

There was that one guy who stabbed a child because all of the Anti-Japanese Hate propaganda got to him.
