Driving License test without driving school

I’m planning on transferring my California license to a japanese one, which allows me to skip driving school.

I’m not worried about the written test, but the practical driving test Im unsure about.

Have any of you taken the test without practicing driving in Japan? I’ve watched the videos that show all of the nonsense you need to do before stepping into the car which should be a breeze, but I still haven’t driven once in Japan. Is it doable?
