Drama again with the Pension Office

Hi all,

I know too many are faimiliar with the notorious pension letters, and recently I also started having the honour to deal with them.

I´m currently working for a project in Japan since 6 months and have a regular Japanese work contract, paying taxes and health insurance. My employer back home arranged for, that I keep paying into pension/social security in my home country, which means I dont need to pay in Japan, since there is some type of international agreement.

After receiving a bunch of letters telling me to pay, I managed to explain them the situation on the phone, and now they sent me the formular to apply for the exemption. I have an official document proving I still pay in my home country, so I thought giving them that, it´s all easy, the exemption goes through and they stop bothering me, but no:

They still want me to pay!

What they saying is more or less like: "The processing of the exemption can take 1-2months, so please pay the ¥200k just in case, because in case your exemption goes through, we will just send the money back"

I might leave Japan in 3months already and dont want to run after my money and I dont really see the point.

Has anybody have a similar experience with the pension office?
