Hello. I'm awaiting for my coe for the upcoming April intake at ISI Japanese language school. I'm trying to make a rough estimate of move-in costs to prepare the funds and to contact housing agencies early in case of move out during my arrival.
I've researched about the pricing and its very high in Shinjuku. My school is located in Nishi Shinjuku-ku. I'm hoping to rent a 1R apartment in 60-70k yen, if possible but, for shinjuku, its 100k plus even for a 1R apartment I looked on multiple sites namely, suumo, gaijinpot etc. My school offers Twin room for 245k for a term ( I think 2.5-3 months) which would be my plan B if i couldn't find a desired apartment under my restrained budget.
Can someone who has lived in Tokyo guide me about areas which are somewhat lesser costly I can look into or getting student dormitory would be more affordable. I can travel up to an hour if I can find a solo apartment under my restricted budget. I'm also open for share houses, if the costs are making a difference. Housing is a pretty big recurring cost after the school fee, so I'd like to reduce it as much as possible.
TLDR; Looking for 1R apartment preferably under 60k and 70k at most. If there are any share houses making a big dip in this price I'd go with them. My school is in Nishi Shinjuku-ku. I can travel up to an hour each way if I can get a solo apartment for myself.
Thank you.
