Tokyo District Court orders US IT company to pay 500 million yen in damages in manga piracy lawsuit


TL;DR On Oct. 19, Tokyo District Court ordered Cloudfare to pay approximately 500 million yen in damages for hosting pirated sites of popular Japanese manga.

Kodansha, Shueisha, Shogakukan, and KADOKAWA notified Cloudfare from April 2020 to Nov. 2021 to stop piracy sites but Cloudfare continued to make them available.
