I just met the most condescending Japanese shop owner.

So I was taking some customers out, and they wanted to stop by a Japanese leather goods store .

They loved the bags and jackets. However, a few items did not fit, and they asked if they can customize / tailor it.

Shop owner looked bored and was dismissive (the combined bill for 2 of them was USD 300, so maybe too little for him), shook his head and went back to tapping his phone.

They asked if they could pay by inserting their card into the machine, instead of tapping it.

Shopkeeper looked at them, rolled his eyes, and said that for chip (dunno how to phrase this) payments, its gotta be USD 500 and above.

They tried to ask again, and he just told them to leave.

This is obviously an outlier, as most Japanese people I have met are kind and polite.

But what in the actual f?
