Hey all, I have been working a full time office job for almost 7 years and planning to take an adult gap year in Tokyo for 6-12 months on a working holiday visa. This is purely a gap year to live in Asia for a while and I don’t plan to stay or work in an office/professional job (I’m literally going so I don’t have to work at a desk). Some questions about applying for part time jobs:
- Is it better to apply or in person once I get there?
- is there a Japanese template for resumes?
- should I list my office jobs in my resume? i also have 4-5 years of experience in retail/customer service from my university days
- How easy is it to get time off? Whats the culture like? i.e if I want to travel for a week every few months, can I just say I’m not available to work? In my home country you just mark out when you can’t work and they won’t roster you on.
- Does having dyed hair as an Asian person affect your prospect? I’m planning to dye my hair soon and don’t want to dye it back cause it will damage my hair.
- I’m planning to do hotel concierge jobs or reception jobs (big foreign hotels hopefully), is this easy to get?
For reference my Japanese is limited, and yep I’ve visited Tokyo before. I’m mainly going to Tokyo because I’m really into fashion and art.
