My friend and I were watching this movie called "Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko" – it's an animated film. There's a scene towards the end where the main character gets sick and she can't tell if it's food poisoning from her landlord's cooking or something else. The landlord also runs a bar and grill.
She (and later their landlord) mentions that she and her mother are only allowed to live there (in a house boat) as long as neither of them ever get diarrhea. This confused my friend and I, lol.
I tried looking it up, but the only thing that addressed it directly was Google's AI response about it possibly being a health concern, but I don't trust AI to give accurate answers, especially when it comes to something like this.
Is it a health thing or maybe because he works with food? Or is it something cultural I've never heard of before?
