Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Minister Suzuki announced this year’s tariff-free rice imports met with strong demand have already been sold out

On Oct. 18th, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Minister Norikazu Suzuki held a press conference after the cabinet meeting. He revealed that the entire amount of this year's tariff-free rice which amount to 100,000 tons has already been sold. Selling out in November is the earliest.

The winning bid was a record high of 556 yen per kilogram.
