What’s a reasonable hotel cost in Japan?

We are travelling to Japan for 29 days in March.
We are booking hotels but I'm beginning to get cost blindness….

I'm looking at Kyoto now and I cannot gage what would be a reasonable MID ground cost for a hotel per night? We aren't backpacking and staying hostel but also haven't got the budget for luxury .

Any one else that's travelled in Kyoto that's stayed at a sort of standard hotel – somewhere to bed down… And how much did you pay???
