TL;DR On Oct. 18, Children and Families Agency announced it will establish a model business to provide after-school care for elementary school children as part of the government's comprehensive economic measures. This will help reduce the number of children on waiting lists for after-school childcare clubs (after-school care). To promote the use of babysitters, an internet site will also be established where parents can check whether the babysitter meets safety standards.
As of May 1, there were approximately 17,000 children on the waiting list for after-school childcare clubs. The number of people wishing to use these clubs is also increasing with the increase in dual-income households. By providing a place for children to stay and subsidizing businesses that look after children, the agency will support families with children in both employment and childcare.
