I’ve got a Tesla M3. Love the car. Am looking to trade it in for a Model Y in 2026.
Tesla Osaka told me the J Gov is “likely” to phase out or stop the credit you get for buying a new EV. That credit is worth JPY870,000 and is paid back to you in cash between 4-6 months after purchase.
I’ve challenged Tesla Osaka on their assertion. To my knowledge the Gov wants to promote EV adoption much further. Stopping this hefty subsidy would hit EV sales hard.
What have you heard? Or am I cynical in thinking it’s just sales talk?
