In 2022 Japan PM Abe was killed by a man who said the Unification Church he had ties to had ruined his family by cajoling his mother into donating 100 million yen in 7 years. The church just reached a settlement with 132 victims for 2.1 billion yen, with negotiations ongoing for other victims.
