Made to Measure or Custom Suits

I'm looking to get a couple of custom or made-to-measure suits for work with a budget of around ¥40,000-¥70,000 per suit, and would be grateful for any suggestions of quality tailors that fit my price range.

I've seen some old posts in the r/Tokyo subreddit, but I'm sure new options have come up in recent years.

Unfortunately, I find that off-the-rack suits in Japan tend not to fit me very well, hence the desire for MTM/Custom options.

Some of the names I've come across so far include F-One, Takashimaya, Azabu Tailor, Ginza Global Style, and a few others.

  1. In that price range, I like Universal Language Measure’s, it’s a Pattern Order store (a lower tier of MTM in Japan where the fitting is based on choosing a set size for jacket and pants and then notating changes from that) but the suits are full canvas and they have a wide selection of fabrics. House brand wool starts around 50,000 and you can get some of the cheaper name brand fabrics like Canonico for under 70,000.

One thing to note though is most stores handle both UL Measure’s and Quality Order Shitate at the same time. Shitate is also fine, but it’s only half canvas and it’s not any cheaper, though it does have a wider variety of options and possible sizes that may be required depending on how much off the rack suits don’t fit you.
