I have been working in Japan for about 4 years now and have gotten lucky with English speaking jobs. Now I am at a point where if I want to move up in my career, I will need better Japanese skills. I tried taking JLPT a few times and failed. Mainly my fault but ive noticed I learn more Japanese at work and studying other materials instead of JLPT specific materials. Now I am in a mainly Japanese only office and my Japanese skills are improving fast (Its that or get fired) so now i am wondering, do I really need the JLPT N3 or N2 or is demonstrating Japanese ability enough?
Anyone else out here who has Japanese skills but no JLPT? Or do you guys recommend I lock in and try to keep going for JLPT?
