Are tourists expected to pay pension if they stay in the country for longer than 3 months?

Japan has a visa that allows a person to stay in the country for up to 1 year for tourism purposes. As expected, you can't work and are basically just living off your savings or passive income from outside the country. Are people with this kind of visa required to pay pension in Japan during that year? If not, are they required to submit an exemption form?

UPDATE: Already got the answer I was looking for. Thanks u/tsian . It requires a special exemption form.
