Sites where you can pay with PayPay without having to connect your accounts first?

Disclaimer: I’m a former resident just recently returned to the UK. I couldn’t really tell how much this sub disallows posts from former or future residents, so apologies if this is not allowed.

I left Japan with 2万円 still on my PayPay account, presuming I could use it in the future (I intend to return). However I have realised that I will lose access to the payment function when the term for which my residency was valid (end of 2025) ends.

As such my account is ID-validated and the scan & pay function seems to work over VPN but as I can no longer receive SMS I cannot complete the setup validation on Amazon, where I had thought to use up my balance. (I have the number and SIM tied to my account still but it’s a no-roaming SIM).

I was wondering if anyone knows of any sites where you can use scan & pay without having to connect your account first?
I have only used PayPay a few times before as it is so I could be wrong but I thought when you use it at real brick-and-mortar stores you just scan without any need for SMS verification or etc. so thought that in theory such sites should exist.
