[Spoilers] World Tag League 2025: Night Eleven (12/5) – A Block

Wolf watch: absent

Jakob Austin Young, Callum Newman, Great-O-Khan def Katsuya Murashima, El Phantasmo, Hiroshi Tanahashi — (8:08, O-Khan-style Ozora Subaru-style Sheep Killer)

  • Callum’s right knee is still taped (under his kneepad).

  • 30 days of Tanahashi left. I believe this is his last match in Osaka, at the very least his last for NJPW.

  • After the entrances, ELP does the standard comedy stuff he’s been doing this tour with Tana and Murashima. Then he encourages Tana to start. Callum decides to start for UE.

  • Yeah GOK is fully on the UE heel train now. After being particularly vicious in the closing minute of the match, he keeps the hold on after the bell and doesn’t release until Tana comes over and stomps him.

  • GOK attacks Tana, ELP and YL come in to make the save. The two WTL teams have a stand-off, Callum makes some rude gestures. UE celebrate and leave the losers in the ring.

  • A Tanahashi chant breaks out. He confirms this was in fact his final match in Osaka and thanks everyone for their supports over the years, then does a little fanservice as he leaves.

Daiki Nagai, Knock Out Brothers (OSKAR, Yuto-Ice) def Zane Jay, Monster Sauce (Alex Zayne, Lance Archer) — (6:24, Ice HIGH)

  • ZJ has upgraded to both wrist tapes being red.

  • During K.O.B’s entrance, Archer comes over and semi-mockingly holds the bottom rope open for OSKAR for a moment. If you weren’t aware, back when he was a YL OSKAR learned a lot from Archer and was even in a similar position as ZJ is right now with Monster Sauce.

  • After the entrances, Archer steps up and gets chest-to-chest with OSKAR. ZJ and Nagai come in and separate them because they’re eager to start instead; and the two YL get their wish.

  • A few minutes into the match OSKAR and Archer start brawling on the outside, and end up going all the way backstage. They do not come back out.

  • Bomboclaat level: 1

  • Post match, Yuto and Zayne have a couple staredowns, one with Yuto taunting Zayne with the tag titles.

  • Nagsi gives his hat to a fan in the front row who has a sign for him.

Hartley Jackson, Ryohei Oiwa, Zack Sabre Jr. def Gedo, Hiromu Takahashi, David Finlay — (8:07, Death Valley Bomb)

  • Are Finlay and Hiromu getting along yet?: Sure. They’re not bffs but they seem to have come to a truce. After the entrances, they even bark together.

  • Both teams talk a little light smack; Hiromu decides he wants to start and calls out Oiwa, who obliges.

  • Yesterday was Hiromu’s birthday, and he had previously asked Finlay for a present. If Finlay got him one, we know it was not a reprieve from non-consensual tossing.

  • Towards the end of the match Hiromu gets KOed by Finlay tossing him. When the match is over, Finlay starts yelling at him and Hiromu gives him an absolutely demonic sneer.

  • Finlay continues to taunt Hiromu as he slowly walks to the back.

Yoshinobu Kanemaru, SANADA[t-shirt version], Ren Narita def Shoma Kato, Yuya Uemura, Shota Umino — (8:24, Figure 4 Leglock)

  • Kato’s still got his kneepads.

  • The House strike in the closing seconds of Shota’s announcement. Ren keeps Yuya, still wearing his jacket, in the ring to start.

  • HoT Shenanigans level: light-moderate. Crowd brawling, ref distraction, turnbuckle pad spanking. At one point Ren used the ring hammer and then threw it into the crowd and it hit a fan.

  • Post match, Shota helps Yuya leave.

WTL 2025 A Block: Chase Owens, Yujiro Takahashi (0 points) def Satoshi Kojima, Taichi (2 points) (point totals prior to today’s results) — (8:47, Pimp Juice [after powdering and a low blow])

  • HoT attack a few seconds after Taichi finishes his song. Yujiro keeps Kojima in the ring.

  • HoT Shenanigans level: light; mainly in the last few minutes.

  • Post match, Taichi finds and accidentally spills the powder baggie (thankfully at ringside), then goes in the ring and throws it at Chase.

  • Yasuda helps Kojima leave while Taichi stays in the ring for a minute, and bows to the fans before leaving.

  • FINAL Block Matches (8th): Yuj/Chase vs Despe/Tsuji, Taichi/Koji vs Tsuji/Gabe

WTL 2025 A Block: Don Fale, EVIL[w/El Hijo de Dick] (6 points) def Shuji Ishikawa, El Desperado (6 points) — (9:47, EVIL [after a sheet shot])

  • (Okay so technically NJPW are going with “Dick Togo II” as the official name, but I had already thought of a bunch of jokes before they did and goddammit I’m going to use them.)

  • El Hijo de Dick promo: “Osaka is a dump as ever. The worst place in Kansai food is terrible here, what the hell is good about takoyaki? I am Dick Togo, and that means I'm the senior here. You guys are my juniors and if you won't listen, these guys will beat you up!” EVIL and Fale attack.

  • We get an outside/crowd brawl, then EVIL brings Despe into the ring.

  • HoT Shenanigans level: moderate.

  • I believe the only team that can end tonight on 6 and still be alive is Bishamon; but they need War Dragons to win tonight (or the unlikely scenario of a finals match being thrown out).

  • FINAL Block Matches: EVIL/Don vs Yano/Oleg, Despe/Shuji vs Yuj/Chase

WTL 2025 A Block: War Dragons (Drilla Maloney, Shingo Takagi) (6 points) def Boltin Oleg, Toru Yano (6 points) — (14:10, WAR DRAGONS)

  • Shingo’s right elbow is still taped.

  • At this point I should just start pre-writing that Oleg still has his right shoulder and knee taped up.

  • Oleg starts with Shingo.

  • This was better than expected, at least for me. Drilla handled Yano pretty well, and even did some decent comedy with him early on.

  • This means Bishamon are still alive even if they lose.

  • FINAL Block Matches: War Dragons vs Bishamon, Yano/Oleg vs EVIL/Fale

WTL 2025 A Block: Bishamon (YOSHI-HASHI, Hirooki Goto) (6 points) def Gabe Kidd, Yota Tsuji[w/Daiki Nagai] (8 points) — (14:03, Shoto)

  • Matsumoto is again in Bishamon’s corner, but AFAIK still not officially Goto Revolutionary Army affiliated.

  • Good trench coat and hat for Tsuji. Gabe walks through the crowd during his entrance, the first time in a while as far as I remember.

  • Post entrances, Gabe leaves the ring and Tsuji to start with YH.

  • This is definitely worth watching for the breakdown of the Tsuji/Gabe team alone.

  • Post match, the YL help Gabe and Tsuji to the back. Tsuji briefly gives Gabe a little WTF shoulder pat.

  • Goto promo: “Thank you for coming tonight!
This February, I won the world title for the first time right here in Osaka. But right now as you see, I don't have that title. Some may think the Goto Revolution is over, but during that time, Yo-chan was always in my corner, and with your support, all of you were as well.
Plus there's someone who wanted to join the Goto Revolutionary Army, a young gun as well. The Revolution is not over yet! Matsumoto, you are already a great Revoluionary.” (At ringside, Matsumoto nods.

“We, Bishamon will take our fourth trophy. Nobody can stop us from doing what nobody has done before! Let's end with the Goto G! What G? Matsumoto, you know!”

  • Matsumoto answers “The G in Tag.” Goto agrees that the G in World Tag stands for Goto.

  • FINAL Block Matches: Bishamon vs War Dragons, Tsuji/Gabe vs Taichi/Koji
