Hi everyone!
This is actually my first time posting on Reddit, so apologies in advance if I make any mistakes.
I’m originally from Turkey. I moved to Poland in 2017 for university and language studies. After graduating, I found an IT job here and decided to stay. I now have a TRC and a stable life here.
Throughout all these years, I’ve always wanted to visit Japan and have been fascinated by its culture and beauty.
About 15 days ago, I finally saved enough money to make the trip. I spent 12 days visiting Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Himeji, and a few other places. Honestly, the trip was everything I had dreamed of. Everything felt exactly as I imagined — sometimes even better.
But after returning to Poland, I can’t stop thinking about moving to Japan permanently. I was doing small researched all the time regarding the culture and country itself for at least 3 years.
I’ve already done a lot of research on Japanese companies, work culture, and the challenges foreigners face. I know it’s not easy. Here in Poland, I can’t say I’m fully integrated either, mainly because I still don’t speak Polish. My university program and my job are fully in English, and all my Polish friends speak English with me.
The truth is, I never had the motivation to learn Polish. My original plan was always to stay here temporarily. Interestingly, during my first trip to Japan, I was able to understand quite a lot of basic conversations and I actually enjoyed using the language.
I’m 29 now, and I feel like it’s time to make a clear decision about my future.
I would really appreciate any advice, suggestions, or personal experiences from people who moved to Japan or are considering it.
Thanks for reading!
