This is my first time making a post here on Reddit, sorry in advance, but as the title says I am quite uncertain about my choices (and in which order to list them) and would like to ask anyone if they know anything about either the exchange experience or the schools in Japan.
I am considering TUFS, Tsukuba, Dokkyo, and Waseda, unsure of which one I'll get placed at. I have some worries as I will be mostly self-finance most of my needs. I can get at most ¥50.000 from my folks, the rest is from the money I've been saving up working a few part-time jobs over the years. I want to live the experience to its fullest while also improving my Japanese so that I can at least get my N2 certificate before I leave. (I am studying for N3 as of now.)
So, my question are like this:
- Is Tsukuba's location (Ibaraki) a really big issue? I am quite into the pop culture at Japan so I think I will definitely want to visit places like Shinjuku at least once a week.
- Is Waseda a good choice for someone who would have ¥130.000 per month? I've looked up their dorms but it seems like most of them are quite expensive…
- How bad is Dokkyo? I got the image that they're not that good compared to the others, but the location and what they offer (¥20.000 per month at least) seems good in my conditions, but I am hesitant.
Sorry if it's too complicated, but I would really appreciate any suggestions on the topic.
