Is it rude in Japanese culture to turn down repeated dinner invitations?

We have a wonderful Japanese friend who has been so kind to me and my sons during our stays here in Japan. I’m disabled, she knows our story…my son is also disabled but in a wheelchair and it’s always difficult for us to keep plans.

Our new friend of nine months invites us out to eat weekly and sometimes we just don’t feel well enough to leave the house. She tells me it’s fine and asks what we would like her to bring us.

I feel AWFUL bc I have a feeling what I’m doing is considered rude. I explain each time (3) so far how we aren’t feeling well and sometimes we have rescheduled.

Any suggestions for being more respectful?
