Has anyone else noticed there are suddenly new coin laundries popping up all over the place? Why the sudden popularity of opening this kind of business? My husband wonders if it’s some kind of front for literal money laundering!

Increase in tourists.
They need to wash their clothes and the laundry service at their hotel is too expensive. Some hotels have machines, but usually just one or two. If someone is using the machine(s), then you have to wait. Also, if you have a lot to do, like for several members of a family, it can be faster to go to a coin laundry and use several machines at once.
One bag tourists.
Did your husband ever wonder why there are so many hair salons and nobody inside ? At least at the coin laundries I often see people.
