Language school application – employment date inconsistency

Hello all, like the title suggests I've run into a situation with a language school application that I'm unsure about.

I applied to language school last year while I was employed. I left my job shortly after sending the application and the school submitted it to immigration a few months later. I didn't realize I needed to update the school and tell them that I had resigned. My CoE application was approved and I ended up getting my visa but had to defer due to a personal matter.

I'm applying again for this year and sent a revised application that correctly shows my employment dates. The school rep noted that my end date conflicts with the dates they submitted for my last CoE application and asked if I was comfortable with changing my employment end date on the application to keep it consistent with what was sent to immigration last year. My employment dates are public information for anyone with a LinkedIn account, so I'm a bit concerned.

Does it seem safe to do what the school rep is suggesting? Thanks in advance for any info!

  1. Do not lie to immigration.

If I’m reading this correctly your previous application said something like “JoeBlow Inc, June 2020-Present” and your new application says “JoeBlow Inc, June 2020-August 2024”?

If that’s the case… That’s entirely normal. Time passes. People leave jobs.
