I’ll be returning to Kyoto after 50 years, looking to locate the neighborhood where I stayed for weeks as a broke teenager. We called the guesthouse “Madame Uno’s” and we got a futon+bedding for around $2 a night. I remember the nearest tram stop was Marutamachi-Kawaramachi, and there was a public onsen on the next street, which also had some interesting shops.
I feel sure the guest house is no longer in operation, and anyway I have no interest in staying there again. 😆 but… I wonder if anyone here ever knew the place and could give me the approximate address so that I can stroll the neighborhood again.
As Basho so fittingly wrote:
In Kyoto

I long for Kyoto.
Many thanks 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
