I'm planning on applying for the Working Holiday Visa (From Latvia) and going to Japan in late January/February 2026. Previously, I participated in an exchange program in 2024 in Japan where I created a residency card and a "My Number card." Will I have any issues with creating a new residency card or anything related to the My Number card if I'm in a different municipality than I was during the exchange program?
Oh and for the application procedure I'm planning to apply now in December so if it gets rejected due to the quota I can reply is that how it works? (All though i doubt the quota is full).
Should around 1M yen (in euro a bit over 5k) be fine for the visa if I also don't provide plane tickets in the application as buying them before being approved seems a bit unwise.
They state that you can provide either proof of funds or the tickets. I did call the embassy and they did say the same bank statement is fine for both but refused to say anything about necessary funds.
The 1M yen is both for the tickets and well the regular funds requirement for the visa.
Also.
I've also yet to secure a job as theoretically the Visa application says that you are not encourage to do that (whilst providing a paper that you should fill out if you have found something!?) and I'm also getting conflicting accounts from post online.
I posses good conversational Japanese and reading writing are N2 at least.
As well I posses Excellent knowledge of English and I speak some Russian and I'm native Latvian speaker tho I doubt that is too relevant.
I've finished a bachelors In Japanese Studies and have completed a tourism internship through my studies.
As previously mentioned I've also participated in an exchange program in Japan 6 months. As well as I've developed an app that soon to be published with a couple of friends.
Originally I was planning on working in Europe for a bit but as I've failed to find any position here (and I've been applying quite a bit).
The plan is to either get lucky and find some good long term employment in Japan or hope that the Working-Holiday experience will work like an extra Internship.
Any Advice is Greatly Appreciated!
