"career" in quotation because I probably still doing the same work just different Industry.
I'm a 26 years old software engineer, I've been in the Fintech industry for the past 8 years now and planning to switch to the Video Game industry, but this industry (or any kind of art/entertainment industry) is practically nonexistent where I live.
My last education was a Trade High School in Software Engineering back in 2017, I have N4 which I achieved back in 2023 and some certificates that i don't think will be relevant (AWS and CompTIA). after graduating in 2017 I decided to pursue my career instead of higher education, didn't regret it, but now some roadblocks are appearing where my Experience alone cannot overcome.
I'm planning to go to a language school for 1-2 years to get N2, then a 2 year diploma for Game Design, at most all this is a 3-4 year journey, I have some savings (roughly 4.2M JPY in equivalent), I did some calculations and part-time should cover me quite nicely.
my goal was to finally fulfill what I wanted since I was a little which is to be involved in video games, funnily enough the reason I even thought of doing this was seeing Todd Howard in TGA last week and thinking: "He's getting old, I always wanted to games like he did"
Really I just want to know if this is a sound plan, maybe someone enlighten me the reality, is this too much of a leap of faith? I did consider the risk that I might not get hired in the Industry at all after completing the diploma, but I would rather try than keep dreaming
